Here I am, a rabbit hearted girl Frozen in the headlights It seems I've made the final sacrifice. ---*~*--- Maria had been standing outside for a while, taking a long drag from a cigarette. Watching the crowd ebb and flow, until she was pretty sure the club was full of mostly the unnatural monsters that plagued this awful city. She smiled, snubbing the cigarette out in an ashtray near the door. She checked all of her weapons to make sure they were in place. A small pistol in her tall, black boots, loaded with wood tipped bullets. A sheathed knife under her dress, pretty high up on her thigh. The knife made her nervous. She hated the damned things, but if worst came to worst, it could be her only hope.
She nodded to the bouncer as she entered the smoky club. Another pet peeve. She smoked, couldn't kick the awful habit, but she wasn't going to force lung cancer on anyone else. That was just... selfish. Taking long strides across the worn wooden floor, she took a seat at the bar, crossing her legs as she ordered a shot of rum. Alcohol was another bad habit of hers. Eh. She was going to die sooner than later, so cancer wasn't something -she- worried about. The bartender, busy with his other patrons gave her a wink. Rob, she remember his name. He was a sweetie. Human and oddly ignorant. Thank goodness.
Her hazel eyes took a look around the gathered crowd. She could smell them. Vampires filled most of the room and her senses. They smelled a sickly sweet to her. Like rotting sugar. The smell always unnerved her, made her want to vomit. Becoming a slayer had quite literally changed a lot about her body chemistry. Heightening her senses, her reflexes. That definitely came in handy.
But she actually wasn't here for the slay-age. She was here for the drinks. The sweet burn of the poison running down her throat. Yummy.

It was a wicked and wild wind, blew down the doors to let me in. Shattered windows and the sound of drums..
Jack was already in the club and at the bar. There was no real intention for him to dance or even to socialize with the people. Tonight, the voice in his head had left him alone practically all day. This was one of those good days that he could even consider a vacation in the long run. That made living all the more worthwhile. The days that passed when he could be free of it were the days he treasured. He was still a sadistic fuck on those days, but that really had nothing to do with the voice but his own personal preference.
Tonight he was on the end of the bar drinking an R&R. This made him feel all the more comfortable here. He was drowning out the other people in the bar as he drank and relaxed on the stool. His eyes were even at rest tonight, not actually hopping around intended victims or even being paranoid of the type that frequented this place. He was, of course, aware of all of them in the room, but that would not stop him from being at ease. He was a lot stronger than your every day demon and he had problems defending himself. It was the other people that had to worry about him if they decided to start something.
The scent of something human hitting his nose wafted it's way in from the front of the building. This establishment catered to them as well, but it was always interesting to see them in. His eyes locked on the girl, this human, and he watched. He knew that it was only a matter of time before she caught his eyes on her, but there was something in him that really could not care less if she knew that he was watching her or not.

Here I am, a rabbit hearted girl Frozen in the headlights It seems I've made the final sacrifice. ---*~*--- Maria seemed to be caught within herself as she closed her eyes and took another shot of rum. It burned so good. Kind of the way a gun shot does. A nice contrast with the way tequila felt to her. Like a paper cut. Awful stuff.
But then she felt the eyes, a pair of them, boring holes into her tiny frame. They perked her interest. They belonged to a rather handsome man. Not vampire. That was refreshing. But humans seemed to bother her almost as much as the blood suckers these days. Ignorant little ants. Except for the Helsing Corp. The only humans she could really respect.
A smile tugged at the corner of her mouth as she locked eyes with him. But then she looked away, taking her seat at the bar a pace or so to the right away from him. The seats close to her were empty, and she quietly hoped that he would move closer to her. It made her a bit flustered. A bit nervous. She reached up with a tanned, slender hand to tuck her dark brown, curly locks behind her left ear.
She reached out and grabbed the bartender, ordering another shot of rum. Rob served it to her quickly and she downed it even more quickly. That made three in less than five minutes. Any ordinary woman her size would be reeling. But it barely buzzed her. But the buzz hummed through her and made her feel... alive.

The girl seemed to lock on him for a few moments. This usually told a man to move closer or to turn away. There was certainly no sort of "turn away" action made by the girl so that only meant one thing. Now, Jack was not nearly taken in by women because he happened to be a lot more intelligent than that, but there were also times he could play along. It also helped that women had burned him before and he ended up having to kill them, so there was some hesitance when it came to flirting and what not. So far so good with the voice being gone, but there was no telling when it would show up next.
Jack picked up his drink and very casually made his way over to the girl. She definitely smelled human, so that was a reassuring thought. He had no interest in flirting with a vampire, demon or anything else tonight. The thought crossed his mind that she could have been a witch, and Jack hated most witches more than anything else, but he would have to wait and find out. His eyes gave the girl a once over before he smirked and sat down on the stool next to her.
"Evening, gorgeous." Jack said softly, barely loud enough for the girl to hear him. It was just how he spoke when he intended to have a personal conversation with someone. That was a bit odd to think about when they were in the middle of a club at the bar, but in so much chaos, it was easy to talk to someone one-on-one because there was too much going on for other people to focus on something they were not doing.

Here I am, a rabbit hearted girl Frozen in the headlights It seems I've made the final sacrifice. ---*~*--- Maria smiled gently as he addressed her and moved closer to her. A bit of a blush coming to her naturally tanned cheeks. He was handsome, and there was something devilish dancing in his eyes that made her want to spend more time with him.
"Hello there," she said, sensually, her words rolling of her tongue with her distinct Spanish accent. Instinctively, she flipped her hair over her right shoulder to make sure her hair covered her bite scars, before sticking out the slender hand for his taking. "I'm Maria. It's a pleasure," she said, again in a sensual tone.
Her large brown eyes watched him carefully. He looked familiar. She knew she'd at least seen a picture of him somewhere, but she couldn't place him. But she knew he wasn't a vampire. And at the moment, that was good enough for her. He was handsome, and she was lonely. Very lonely. But she wasn't desperate, and wasn't going to look desperate. But her spidy-senses weren't tingling, and his good looks took away any reservations she would've normally had about new people. She made a mental note to make an extra effort to act human. The last thing she needed to do was draw attention to the fact that she wasn't.
She crossed and uncrossed her legs and bit her bottom lip. Meeting new people always made her quite nervous. But of course, the alcohol helped. Numbed her nerves slightly.

Jack's archaic knowledge and insight often provided him with a bit of interesting attitude and behavior, so this was no exception. As she blushed, he smiled. When she stuck out her hand, he leaned forward and kissed it as he took it. Stepping back to the stool that was next to her, he flashed her a smile and took another drink of the big glass that he had been drinking from. Watching her be nervous was probably the most amusing thing he had seen all night. The way she moved and reacted seem to indicate that she had no idea what he was. This was definitely a good thing.
"Name's Jack." He responded to her soft hello. She definitely was a sexy little number, even if she had no idea what she was doing here. The thought of some naive little thing making her way into the bar enticed him slightly. It was always fun to break and corrupt the innocent ones. If he knew the truth, it would not have been nearly as fun, but part of this was the fact that he knew nothing of the girl.
His eyes shifted momentarily to the girl's chest and then went out to the rest of her body. There was something to be said about gorgeous brunettes, at least. Giving her another smile, he turned back to the bar and took a big swig of the drink, nearly emptying the glass. Now, it took a hell of a lot to get him intoxicated, especially considering the fact that he was not human in the slightest. His body needed a lot more to get drunk, but he could at least get a little bit of a buzz from the alcohol.
"This one's interesting, Jack." The voice said in the back of his head, "She's got her eyes on you like she'd be willing to beg and scream all you want her to." Jack could hear a dark laugh in the back of his head but he shrugged it off. The voice had been gone today up until now. This had almost been a vacation.

Here I am, a rabbit hearted girl Frozen in the headlights It seems I've made the final sacrifice. ---*~*--- Maria blushed again as he kissed her hand, the feel of his lips against her skin causing her to shiver ever so slightly. She bit down on her lower lip, listening to his handsome voice as it floated from his handsome lips. As she withdrew her hand from his, she reached for her empty shot glass, shaking it in the air a bit. The bartender noticed, quickly refilling the glass with rum.
She winked at Jack, as she lifted the now full glass to her lips and quickly downed it. She slammed the glass down on the bar. Three shots? Or was that four? At this point, she couldn't keep count, but the buzz was humming through her body regardless. And damn, it felt good.
And then the music turned into a recognizable tango. Oh how she loved to tango. She leaned over to him, whispering close to his ear in her beautiful Spanish accent, "Would you like to dance?" She smiled softly, giggling as she pushed herself from her bar stool, beginning to head over to the wooden dance floor, her heels rhythmically clacking against the wood. She looked over her shoulder, to make sure he was following her. A sly smile tugging at her lips, as her hips began to move to the music.

Jack finished the drink and smiled at her. "Oh woah, this one's really downing it. Get her, Jack. Get her! Go on! Don't stop. I want to see this." If the voice could have had a face, Jack would have seen it smirking in the back of his head. The voice seemed to approve of this girl, at least for now. There was a certain bit of sadism that was bringing him into this that Jack was completely aware of. It could never be that Jack was actually attracted to someone and even if he was, there was no way he would ever truthfully admit it unless there was a good reason to.
"Dance?" He smiled at her and ran a hand through his hair. A tango, of course. While he had never formally trained or been educated in dance, but the tango was one of the things he had picked up watching. Stepping out onto the floor, and very aware of her Spanish accent, he nodded and positioned himself on the floor with her. He was aware that this sort of thing never really happened in normal clubs, but this was sort of a more fancy and interesting place.
"Shall we, then?" Jack offered his hand to her and looked down at her.

Here I am, a rabbit hearted girl Frozen in the headlights It seems I've made the final sacrifice. ---*~*--- Maria smiled as he joined her, extending his hand as he reached her. She nodded as he prodded at her to start, sliding her right hand into his left hand, and her left hand reaching out to pull his right hand to her waist before placing it on his shoulder. She pulled her slender frame up against his, gasping gently from the force she exerted, slightly alarming herself. She blushed again, before taking a step backwards, then a few more. Slow, slow, quick, quick, slow. Her steps were all in time with the music.
And then, a dip backwards, her leg sliding between his, as she leaned back, smiling at him. When she snapped back up, she wrapped her left leg around him, and leaned back again, displaying her cleavage for his viewing. Snapping back up again, she steered him to the side, and began a few side steps. All of her steps were deliberate, loud against the floor. Aggressive. Predatory.
She bit her lip again, enjoying this. This sexual dance got her excited, hot and bothered if you will. The song ended too quickly for her, and she found herself unable to move her hips away from his, even as the next song, a slow old standard, began. It was magnetic. Animal. And it made her feel alive.

If there was something Jack knew, it was raw animal attraction. The way they danced and moved was like something out a romance novel. Every time they drew close it was like someone had warmed the entire room, but he knew it was just them. It had to have been clear that there was a definite chemistry between the two. Even the music did little to draw attention away from them. They were together on the dance floor and this woman had completely absorbed him for a few moments. Her allure and appeal was all that it took to distract Jack entirely from his goal. What was his goal again? A good time? Would that not be with her? But also, he had to remember, that the voice had spoken up and that often meant trouble in the future. For the very least, right now, he would play things casually or at least as casually as he possibly could.
Now having to choose his words carefully, his eyes minded the girl in front of him and he remained close to her. There was very little in either of them that wanted to move from this position, but Jack knew that something needed to be done. His personality dictated that he would simply drag her off the floor, but this situation actually needed a little bit of finesse. The only real choice of action required a bit of a debonair approach.
Jack leaned down and lightly wrapped his arms around Maria's waist before sweeping her into the air and off of the dance floor. This movement continued and she remained in the air, held up only by his arms and his body pressing against hers, until they were both back at their original place on the bar. He gave her a wicked smile and then breathed easier than he would have on the dance floor.
"That warmth, the way you smell, even the way I felt your heart beat against me.." Jack closed his eyes and remembered that he needed this to sound slightly cunning and suave. It needed to charm the girl. What he was saying, despite the fact that he had other things in mind, was true. Her body intrigued him, especially how he could feel her heartbeat against his chest when they got close, it was all a definite attraction to her.
