”Ad constringendum, Ad ligandum eos partier Et solvendum"
”Are you sure this will work?” Bobby Singer asked, as he stood with Ruby, a demon that did not survive the plague visiting the current times, at a crossroads in Seattle, Washington 2008.
”It is the only way to protect them,” she said as she turned to the woman that suddenly seemed to appear out of no where.
”Who are we trying to protect?” she asked before smirking. Her eyes changed to a deep crimson, a new Crossroads Demon had taken up residence where there lacked one, thanks to a certain trigger happy Winchester. ”The Winchesters? Uh, I’m sorry, perhaps you’ve never heard of an ironclad deal.”
In the blink of an eye, Ruby had her hand around the other demon’s throat and ran her back into a nearby tree. Her trusty knife was out pressing into the skin at the jugular ever so slightly. ”All deals have loopholes, honey,” she said with a smirk of her own as her eyes changed black, ”I should know. Now it’s time for a new deal and before I forget, your dismal so called life is on the line. So I’d take that deal if I were you.”
”And if I don’t, another will replace me and Dean’s soul will be on its way to hell,”
Ruby’s smirk widened and the blade pressed into the skin tighter, causing a slight hiss from the Crossroads Demon. ”Oh I think you will be taking the deal. Bobby?”
”Exorcizamus te. Omnis immundus spiritus,” Bobby started, his eyes burning with every word that came from his mouth.
The ear piercing scream that came from the demon’s mouth would have made Ruby smile, except she had been gritting her teeth against the exorcism spell herself. ”Stings don’t it,” she said with a smirk. ”I can handle that heat, now how about you, sweetheart?”

”We’re not going after another crossroads demon, Sam,” Dean Winchester stated firmly. ”End of discussion, understand?”
Sam Winchester glared at his older brother from the passenger’s seat of the ’67 Impala. ”I don’t see why you won’t consider it,” he said stubbornly, his head shook in disbelief. ”If it could help save you then we should find one.”
Dean’s tongue moved over his lips before he wiped his hand over his mouth. This was one of the many enjoyable discussions the Winchesters had been having as of late. A few days ago the youngest Winchester had come up with an idea of summoning another demon at a crossroads and finding a way to break the deal that way. Dean knew there wasn’t any chance of that happening, because if he did find some way out of his deal, Sam was dead. There was no way he was going to sacrifice his little brother for his life, no matter how much Sam wanted to pout and puppy dog his way into making Dean give in. ”I said no, Sam. No, okay? You are not going to die, so just forget it.”
”So I have to live without you instead?”
”Drop it,” Dean said as he shot Sam a look of warning. ”Just drop it.”
”Fine,” Sam said with a look of his own to match. Without another word, he turned his attention to look outside at the dark and bleak night. Storm clouds were suddenly appearing when they hadn’t been there a moment before. With a frown, he fished out his cell and quickly pulled up the weather reports. There were no storms forecast for the night. What the hell? ”Dean.”
The annoyed response from his bother came, ”What now Sam?”
”You see those clouds?”
”You’ve seen storm clouds before, right?”
Sam looked over at his brother and frowned. With a shake of his phone, he replied, ”Yeah I have, but certainly not ones that seem to come out of nowhere. There isn’t any forecast for them; even if they just started up, it would have been on a news stations website for the area.” He saw the realization come to Dean’s eyes before the older hunter looked out the window at the storm. ”Not to mention that the color doesn’t look like normal storm clouds.”
With a nod of his head, Dean responded, ”I think we might be seeing some action up ahead. Ready for it Sammy?”
”Yeah I am, but wh…” his words trailed off, which caused his brother to look at him with confusion. ”There’s a crossroads up a head.”
The older Winchester’s head snapped back to look at the road. Son of a… There it was, a stupid crossroad and with the clouds it could mean only one thing. A demon. The Winchesters glanced at each other once before focusing their eyes on the road. They had to be prepared for anything that was about to happen, anything at all. Dean scanned his side of the road, while Sam did the same on his side. Nothing out of the ordinary seemed to appear, but then again, looks could be deceiving.
Sam started to get a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach, what if the demon that held Dean’s contract heard how he planned to save his brother? What if it decided to take Dean before the year was up? More thoughts like these followed inside his mind, but came to a sudden stop as it hit a wall of familiarity as he focused on a proverbial face up ahead; actually two proverbial faces, Bobby and Ruby. Now what were they doing here? And who was that other woman they happened to be with? ”Dean, there’s Bobby and Ruby,” he said pointing to the corner of the crossroads on the far side, unable to conceal the concern in his voice.
”Yeah I see them,” he said with a frown, his foot pressed on the brakes to slow the car down. ”Think they know what’s going on?”
Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher
But I flew too high
Ruby pressed her knife against the side of the demon. ”Do it now or you die,” she taunted into the woman’s ear.
”Fine!” the other demon shouted before her eyes turned red and her hands flew up. She started to chant slowly getting louder with each passing moment. "Aeris translatoi postremo..." Lighting flashed as thunder roared, rain began to pour down hard while the wind whipped at everything in sight. Then the wind began to circle, and seemed to focus right in the dead center of the crossroads.
”I don’t know about this, Ruby,” Bobby once again stated his concern.
”But I do,” she said confidently over the howl of the wind. ”This is the only way, I promise. Say goodbye Bobby, you’ll never see the Winchester boys again.”
The circle of wind faced towards the road the Winchesters were traveling on and before they could even have a chance to turn away, a gravitational pull had them caught.
Though my eyes can see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I’m dreaming
I can hear them say
”Dean look out!” Sam shouted as they headed towards the trio, as well as the strange whirlwind in front of them.
Dean tried to turn his car, but it wouldn’t budge. Not even an inch. ”I’m trying Sam, I am,” he said, the fear evident in his voice, ”but nothing’s happening!” He slammed on the brakes, but all that got him were squealing tire. ”Get out!”
”What about y…”
”Get out!” Dean shouted at his brother.
Sam pressed his lips together and tried to open the door, but it didn’t move. With his shoulder, he tried to shove it open, still zilch happened. ”Dean, the doors are stuck. I can’t get out!”
The vortex was growing larger right before their eyes and neither Bobby nor Ruby seemed to be trying to help them. No, it seemed as if they were encouraging the demon to do this to them. The question now was why? Dean gritted his teeth as his hands tightened around the steering wheel. Sam clenched his jaw while he gripped the door handle and his seat. “Tell me that isn’t what I think it is,” he said.
With a nod of his head, Dean answered, “Yeah Sam, it’s a vortex.” And everyone knew a vortex was connected to other dimensions. There was no way of knowing where they would end up.
The Impala was only inches away from the vortex now and they had no clue what to do. Their heads turned to look at the trio past the whirlwind and saw Bobby waving at them and Ruby giving a sad smile. What the hell was going on?!
”Try the door again,” Dean instructed Sam, as he tried to shove his own door open.
With gritted teeth, Sam shoved hard on the door with his shoulder. As much as he hated them, he wouldn’t mind having his powers right about now; that would get the damn doors open. Instantly, as soon as he had thought it, Sam’s door flung open and he saw the ground below him rushing forward. ”Dean!” he shouted.
At the sound of his younger brother’s voice, the oldest Winchester turned in time to see Sam fall out of the car before he had a chance to try and grab a hold of him.
”Oh f…” Dean started to say before the Impala was sucked into the vortex instantly.

With a clap of thunder and a strike of lighting, the vortex closed and everything calmed down abruptly. Ruby pushed the crossroad demon forward and glared at her. ”Now get out of here and go tempt some pathetic soul,” she snapped.
”I don’t think a simple thank you would kill you,” she said before being gone in the blink of an eye.
”But why chance it?” Ruby said with a smirk before she turned to Bobby. ”Are you all right?”
”Was that the right thing, Ruby?” he asked, trying hard to not let his tears fall for the boys he thought of as sons.
She placed a firm hand on his shoulder and nodded her head. ”Dean’s deal was up in 2008. You know he only had a year. If he isn’t here, the deal can’t be fulfilled, making it null and void.” It wasn’t easy for him and she felt sympathy for the man, but this was the loophole to save Dean and in return save both boys. ”We won’t ever see the Winchesters again, but at a least they’ll both be alive and well.”
Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man, well

Normal in the year 2023 was never really normal anymore. After the escape from Manticore in 2020, followed by the Jam Pony siege, Transgenics had been brought out into the light of day and some were still having a hard time with that. Even now, as Alec McDowell stood guard over the gate to Terminal City, he knew people still wanted his kind dead, destroyed for ever being born; like they even had a choice in the matter. But no one cared about that; all they cared about was the fact that Transgenics were better than humans, stronger and smarter, in every way imaginable. That made them different and people don’t like different. Most though, didn’t care about that, all they wanted was to live a normal life. Or as normal as one like a Transgenic could get.
”Why did Maxie have to put me on guard duty?” he mumbled as he shifted the gun from one shoulder to the other, bored out of his mind. ”Nothing ever happens here. Man, I’m sooo bored!”
Lightening pierced the clear night sky, soon the peaceful moment was torn with thunder and wind that materialized from nowhere. Being scared was not something Alec usually did, but he made a small exception for this. About ten yards or so from the gate, the wind began to center and slowly started to turn in a circle towards TC. Now what in the hell was going on? Alec suddenly wasn’t so bored anymore.
On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about I’m like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune
But I hear the voices say
His highly sensitive ears picked up on others that were starting to get freaked out about what was happening. The rain came as the wind tore the streets, trash went everywhere and people were fighting to stand upright. Alec heard an earsplitting crackling sound and knew lightening had struck something; it would only be a moment before the smell of fire wafted up his nostrils. Yep, lightening had indeed struck something, but he had no time to check on it. He was bound by some unseen force to stay where he was, his eyes locked onto the vortex before him.
Abruptly, the center of the whirlwind darkened and a strange shape seemed to be on its way through. What in the name of all things Holy was that thing? Alec leaned closer into the gate and watched as a car slowly started to make its way out. In milliseconds, the car had exited the vortex and was at full speed towards the gate of Terminal City, straight at Alec. In a last minute move, he hurled himself out of the way of the ancient car that crashed through gates. The vehicle proceeded on right before the sound of metal crushing against itself as the car crashed into something.
Alec ninja rolled out of the jump and was back on his feet immediately, his only thought now was that he had to get to that car. The half of the gate still hung on by a hinge, the other had been dragged a few feet away and past that, he found the prehistoric car in the side of one of the storage sheds. Smoke poured from the engine. With his enhanced eyes, Alec saw movement inside as someone tried to open the driver’s side door. Someone was trapped inside!
Without another thought, he blurred to the car and all but ripped the door off. His attention turned as a man fell out and almost hit the ground before Alec caught him. With a grunt at the sudden weight, he managed to drag him away from the wreck as other Transgenics showed up to help.
”Alec!” Max Guevera shouted as she ran up with concern written across her face. ”What the hell happened? Who is that?”
”You wouldn’t believe me if I told you, Maxie,” he said with a shake of his head, while he laid the man down. ”And I have no idea.”
Only then did he get a good look at him. The face, older and more worn, but it was nearly identical to his. Alec’s eyes shot up to see if Max had taken notice and when he noted the disbelief in her eyes, he knew she had. The man groaned and grumbled something.
”Sam!” he called out, the fear and worry strained his voice. Even that sounded like Alec’s.
”What the hell,” he said with incredulity, wondering now what new trick Manticore had unleashed.

”Dean!” Sam shouted as he sat upright on the ground. His breath was harsh and he looked around frantically. He was still at the crossroads? How did he get here and where was Dean?
His eyes took in everything around him, it looked like the crossroads he had seen before he fell out of the Impala, but different. There was brush he happened to be in and it hadn’t been there before he fell. And the more he looked around, the more he noticed everything had grown up and trash was littered everywhere.
”What the hell is going on?” he mumbled as he started to stand up. A breeze started to blow and the loose trash started to blow about, but Sam didn’t give any attention to it as he tried to figure out which way to go. His head turned left before right, and then he glanced ahead himself. Nothing to interesting in any of those directions, so he turned to look behind himself, only to receive a windblown newspaper right in the face.
With a groan of aggravation, he jerked the newspaper out of his face and crumbled it up before he tossed it away. He shook his head as he started to walk straight, but something started to nag at his brain, something his eyes caught in the newspaper. His head turned to glance over his shoulder before he moved to walk back and retrieved the tattered paper.
Sam opened it with his attempt to smooth it out better, but it wasn’t doing much good. After only a moment, he stopped and started to scan the news, nothing was that intriguing. That is, until he caught the date, 2023.
”No way,” he said, the paper falling from his hands in utter bewilderment.

”They are here! The Winchesters are here and I want them destroyed,” the demon spoke to the Familiar Priestess.
”We will do all that we can to rid the world of them,” she said in agreement to appease her mistress.
A sick and demented smile settled over the body Lilith inhabited. ”Oh I know you will. And this time, Sammy and Dean Winchester will not escape my will.”

Being in another dimension is almost like being in another universe. Nothing is quite what it seems and the Winchester brothers have to team alongside people and creatures they never dreamed existed; that is if they want this fight over. Against unknown forces and dire foes, they will have to test the waters, break the boundaries, and fight against the odds to win…
That is… if they can.
