Peering up into the view of her rear view mirror, Evie slicked another layer of mascara over her already heavily defined lashes. She pushed her hair band so that it sat nicely on her head and fixed her jet black curls around it. It was one of those days, those days that Evie had always looked forward to but barely got to experience anymore. Stepping out of the car, the dusky pink heels that adorned Evie’s feet clicked loudly against the concrete. She hung her bag over her shoulder and slowly stepped into the bar before her. The instant sound of music and people talking filled Evie’s ears and the smell of alcohol flooded her senses. It was a smell that was indescribable but a smell every bar had. Approaching the bar, Evie noticed the manager step out from behind and approach her. ‘Great to see you again Miss Brett, everything’s set up and ready for you’
Looking around the room Evie got those butterflies in the pit of her stomach. That way when you were slightly nervous but so excited and both lots of butterflies mixed to make a feeling of sheer bliss. She nodded back at the guy that had been speaking to her and headed up towards the stage, her feet stepping delicately up each stair until she was stood on the black shiny surface. Her baby pink stuck out perfectly against the monochrome décor. Evie walked over to the piano, placing down her bag before speaking briefly to the pianist. She then headed over to the microphone, finger tapping gently against it, the sound echoing through the room. After introducing herself to the room, Evie signalled to the pianist and music started to play through the bar and her voice followed it, elegantly. So strong yet beautiful with so much harmony.
As soon as Evie started to sing it was like everything else stopped and she lost any sense of time or even what was going on around her. She’d been going on for nearly an hour and it wasn’t till she heard the last song of that part of her set start to play. She sung her little lungs out. As the tempo changed so did her voice, becoming subtle and sweet.
“Didn’t I think you would always love me? Didn’t I want you to take care of me, baby? Well that ain’t happenin’…”
Her foot slammed against the floor and her hair flicked across her face with a swift head movement.
“NO NO NO! Wouldn’t I love just to rise above this? You’ve gotta believe I’ve suffered enough to be free.. So I’m finally leavin’ just a kiss on the cheek and I’m gone! I’ll be on the 7o’clock! Whoa! Oh whoa! 7 o’clock to Chicago!”
She harmonised her way out of her song and giggled slightly towards her audience, a noticeable grin on her face. “Thank you!” was mumbled down the microphone before the petite brunette grabbed her bag and snuck off the stage. She headed up to the bar and ordered a glass of sparkling Rose and sat there with her drink before her. Tapping her heel ever so gently against the metal of the bar stool along to the tune of the music now playing through the bar’s stereo system.

It had been a long, stressful day for Steven, getting turned away from two potential jobs and not to mention that his right arm was sore and a small bruise on his cheek didn't help things, as he fought several annoyances off the night before, just so he could sleep at his current and hopefully temporary residence, the graveyard.
The man simply needed an escape and a way to relax after such a tense streak, and his steps led him into the bar, where he could sit back, and drink away at least a few of his worries as his mind was working overtime with many things on his mind. Steven simply took a seat at the bar, leather jacket pulled over his back and his hair messy as always. Taking a look back, he saw that they were setting up for some type of show or performance and grinned slightly. "Well, at least I picked the right time to come in and relax...music is something I can put up with.' He thought to himself, looking back to the tender and ordering a Jack and Coke, before sighing lightly and scanning the room again. Steven took a better look at the female who was now taking her place on stage and testing out the microphone to check if it was indeed providing sound, and with the echo of Evie tapping the mic, the werewolf nearly jumped as he was grabbing his drink. "Sheesh, she needs to watch the ears..." He groaned to himself, rubbing his head as the noise apparently didn't sit well with his sensitive hearing. "Whatever happened to the old mic check 1..2..thing? Its better than hearing some scratchy echo..." He muttered to himself. As the pianist began to play, Steven turned with his drink and listened intently as Evie began to sing, slightly surprised with the voice coming from the female, granted she wasn't singing the type of music he cared for, but she wasn't bad at all, and he had respect for artists who could get up in front of a group of people and belt out their songs. It was even tougher to do so in front of people who were voluntarily trying to get plastered with drinks and other things as well. It was amazing to see the emotion run through Evie and a small grin flashed over Steven's face, as he understood that she was putting her heart and soul into the performance, and it indeed was showing, as she was hitting her notes with a great sense of tone and pitch, and a slight chuckle of entertainment rung from the werewolf's throat as she harmonized out of the song, and despite the type of song that she had just trudged through, Steven gave her his applause and smiled brightly when he witnessed the girl make her way to the bar and order herself a drink. Feeling almost as if he owed her a compliment, Steven grabbed his drink and slowly moved over towards her, looking her over slightly and nodding to her, showing a decent amount of courtesy to the girl. "That was a pretty good performance." He said lowly, smiling slightly. "You pretty much nailed it and even though I'm not one for those type of songs, you made that pretty much your own." He said with a bright grin, before taking a drink of his Jack and Coke. "I'm sorry, I missed your name on the intro up there, got a little into the music...I'm Steven." He muttered with a chuckle. (I hope this'll work for you, I kinda tried to make it interesting...I'm sure it'll pick up from there. XD)

That time between performances was always a time of reflection and more often than not picking apart everything she'd just done, finding fault. But for once, this time was a silent time, a time that Evie sat there and just remembered how amazing it was to get up on stage and simply sing. She'd missed it so much. Just to add to the rarity tonight was thrusting upon her, Evie heard a voice break through her silence and turned her head quickly up to view the owner of said voice. The guy before her seemed to pretty much be the polar opposite of Everton. A sugary sweet smile swept across Evie's face as the compliment he paid her sunk in. Compliments were compliments, but especially when someone said something like 'I'm not into that kinda thing' it just made the compliment a billion times better.
A slight blush covered Evie's face and she matched the guy before her in his movements as he sipped his drink, feeling the bubbles pop gently as the sweet, crisp liquid passed through her mouth and slid down her throat. Frowning, Evie listened as she was apologised to and then introduced himself. "Everton... But call me Evie! And it's nice to meet you Steven!" She said motioning at the chair before her. Pulling her hair around and around her shoulder, Evie fixed her fringe across her face before letting her fingers gently tease through her pitch black curls, still slightly embarrassed at being complimented.
Tucking her foot behind her ankle, Evie thought back to Steven's first words to her. "So.. Not your type of music? I can't really say anything, I love all music... This is just more 'easy listening' and not really easy to dislike... So it makes the best for a gig like this!" She explained. "What's your 'sort of music'? As long as you don't say opera or Justin Bieber... If you're going to say that you should like.. Leave!" She teased. There wasn't much that wasn't bareable to Evie but eurgh! That was just wrong. He really didn't seem the type to say either of those things but hell... Bieber Fever was taking over the world.

Steven looked Evie over and chuckled, nodding his head as he sincerely meant his comments to her. She had gotten on stage, something that many others couldn't do, and belted out a song that seemed to scream her name in nature. "Everton? Thats a unique name, I'll go with Evie though, its catchy and clever, and its nice to meet you as well." He added with a slight grin. The slightly older Steven took a small sip of his beverage and then turned his full attention over to Evie as he slid down to a chair next to her.
"So Evie, Do you perform often? Because it looks like this isn't the first time you've done something like this." Steven asked, tapping a finger on the counter as he looked at her with a look of interest. A fit of laughter was going on inside of the werewolf's mind as he figured that he'd flattered another woman to speechlessness, something he wish he'd do less of since he had a female on the mind as it is. "Anyways, You like all music huh? Who's your favorite artist or Band? I'm a classic rock guy, I love AC/DC, The Who, Steve Miller Band, Dire Straits and the list goes on." He pointed out.
"Justin Beiber?!? Oh please woman, you nearly made me throw up a little in my mouth." Steven said jokingly, showing his strong dislike for the artist. "I don't even understand how he got so big...its just crazy." He said with a sigh of frustration. Steven chuckled before taking another drink of his Jack and Coke, before leaning back himself and grinning. "So do you sing for a living Evie?"
Looking at her with his curious gaze, the werewolf continued to tap his finger against the bar counter and slightly listen to the music going on in the background, already feeling relaxed with his cold drink in his hand, but even more so as he had a decent conversation with a interesting woman. All the time he carried on with the conversation, he couldn't help but think of the different types of music and about a few other things that were running about his mind, but he kept a smile and listened intently to Evie as she responded.

Introductions out of the way, Steven told Evie how her name was unique, she knew that much, it was also god damned weird but her mum had never been normal with names. Clayton probably had the most common name out of the 3 siblings and even that wasn't heard often. He'd then said that he would stick with Evie because it was catchy and clever. "Gotta admit, I do love my name! Though for a long time my name might as well have been Bee, everyone called me it for so so long!" It was true, her dad called her Bee since she was a new born and through the years it got picked up by so many of her friends and family. It wasn't until she really got to middle school that she ever got a name of her own and it was then she wanted to be 'Evie' not Everton.
The petite brunette was asked if she performed often. "I used to.. In fact when I was in school I had my own band!" She said, giggling and remembering the days when she thought she was going to be a rock star one day. Now she was a... slayer. Any dreams she had once had were slowly fading away. She'd met some slayers that slayer was all they could be but she had dreams and talents. Aside from singing she was intelligent, crazy intelligent, she could have been a doctor or a lawyer, anything she wanted to be. She'd wanted to be a midwife, it was the dream she had settled on but now she had to live with the fact she will just fight demons and vampires until one more than likely killed her.
So far the pair seemed to be getting on great and Steven asked her who her favorite bands or artists were before telling her his. "Now is when I really start to look crazy! I have so many... From like Avenged Sevenfold to Lady Antebellum and The Veronica's but I guess I mainly listen to like alternative soft rock sort of.. Paramore, All Time Low, The Academy Is..." She said, shrugging and then laughing slightly. "But your choices? Man, my dad woulda loved you.. His record collection read like a bible of classic rock. Though his bible took up an entire room!"
Justin Beiber was so not Evie's cup of tea and Steven's comment was hilarious. She burst into fits of laughter and moved her hand to cover her face as she laughed. "I don't know how he got so big either.. and by he I of course mean he! Even my 4 year old sister says he's 'silly'. She does like Hannah Montana though... You win some you lose some!" At least Reah had the advantage of being four. Steven then asked Evie if she sang for a living. She smiled sweetly at him and shook her head. "I wish! No it's more a rare pleasure now. I'm a full time carer for my little sister and I own a bar, a restaurant and a music studio." It seemed far too advanced for a girl of only 18 but she wasn't going to announce straight of the mark that her dad died and she inherited these things.

Steven couldn't help but chuckle at Evie's energy and outspoken personality as she was happy about her name. "Well, its a good thing you like your name, you're stuck with it for the rest of your life, so having a catchy nickname is nothing to be saddened about I suppose." He pointed out, still grinning slightly. "Bee huh? Thats a bit less common than Evie, but just as catchy I guess..." Steve added, thinking how lucky she was to have a nickname, as there wasn't much to go along with Steven, except Steve or Steve-O but even then, he was lucky to have anyone call him that anyways.
"See? I thought you had that type of presence, so you're no stranger with the stage and thats why you're a natural." Steven piped up as Evie told him about her band when she was in school. "There's no doubt you could make it if you really pressed hard into it." He muttered, nodding as he thought about her voice. It wasn't like Steven had any talents like that, sure he could pick at a bass guitar and sound ok, but that was a hobby and he was more of a bookworm and technology person, even if his previous college schooling didn't go like planned.
"Hmm...I dabble in the newer stuff as well, and I have a lot of respect for Paramore, since Hayley Williams can manage to sing anything from rap to rock, now she can sing." He muttered. "I guess I kinda like Avenged Sevenfold, but some of their stuff is really heavy, Airbourne is a good band, and so is The Bravery." Steve added. The moment Evie mentioned that he and her father had the same choice in music, the werewolf chuckled. "Aww yeah, My dad got me hooked on those groups, so maybe its just something that all middle aged males have...a collection of amazing classic rock music." He joked, although slightly missing his father as he said this.
Steven, now seeing Evie bust into laughter before him, couldn't help but laugh a little more himself as apparently his Beiber comment was enough to get the girl going. "Ahh, its nice to hear that the young ones are becoming smarter and smarter everyday, but I can live with the Hannah Montana thing, She is 4 years old after all, She'll grow out of that I'm sure." Steven said with a small smirk.
"Wow, it really sounds like you really have your hands full, but thats amazing that you're in charge of all that, and you're really kinda young for all that, so it seems like you're doing really well in the world." He said with a laugh. "I'm just some lowly college dropout, Its a pity, 3 years of the awesome life and it all comes tumbling down." He muttered. "Meh, what am I boring you with that for? I shouldn't be rambling, you're the more interesting one here."

Singing had always been Evie's biggest passion so singing was amazing to her but talking about her singing and about music with someone, well that just made the night even better. He told her she had a presence on stage that made it clear she was no stranger to it. "I always had stage presence... Its peculiar I used to be so shy... Like I'd meet someone and be unable to even form a sentence. Then I'd walk on to a stage and it'd be like a whole new me... Confident, bright, bold... Stage Evie could take over the world.. I'm still not as good as stage Evie." She let out a slightly embarrassed chuckle. She looked down into her wine glass and grasped it, taking a sip as her brain mulled over what she said. Take over the world.. Her recent problem had been the evil that seemed to always want to do just that. Hell if she could turn the entire world into a stage she might actually have a chance at this whole slayer/demon/vampire fight thing. Sometimes she really did think they picked the wrong girl to be a slayer, more so since Lisa moved into the same house as her. Lisa was perfect for the job. She had the zest and the spunk. Evie sometimes wondered if she even had ability to be a slayer not to mention everything else. He then said she could make it if she tried. "Maybe one day it was my dream but not any more. I have so much to worry about and my responsibilitys and my dreams dont really go together!"
The conversation about music had turned to paramore somehow and Evie smirked at what he said about Hayley Williams. "And shes HOOOOOOOT!" She said with a giggle. He's said how Avenged Sevenfold had some stuff that was too heavy and she nodded in agreement but ever since tthe day she heard little piece of heaven she fell in love with the band. The steven had said how it seemed like a dad thing. Evie felt her cheeks and her forehead move in unison and her nose wrinkling up. "Maybe.. My dad could be so lame sometimes it was unreal but i remember days when i was young when me and dad would just go in the car and drive in a random direction and go to the first awesome place we could find. And everyone thought I loved the days because dad would take me to london zoo or legoland... amazing places. But i remember sitting in the front seat of his car and dad listening to his rubbish music and teaching me stupid things like how to head bang." The trip down memory lane was starting to get easier for Evie. It was still hard whenever she thought of her dad but it WAS easier.
The handsome young man before her seemed to share her hatred for the young Mister Bieber that the world seemed to adore. He'd said how todays youth seemed to be getting smarter as her little sister hated the clearly pre-puberty teen. "Yeah I can live with it sure.. However I happen to know a lot of her songs by hearts and it scares me, honestly!" It was true and although it was embarrassing but Evie wasn't scared to admit it. "She puts me in her hannah montana wig and we have to play dress up.. its her favorite game.. Not sure how i feel about it though.. I don't quite suit blonde... though I'm tempted to get highlights!" She said and then shrugged. She figured it'd take her locks from pitch black to more of a light brown which was her natural color. She'd just piled black on it for so long now she couldn't quite remember what was natural.
What Evie had said about owning 3 property's and being a full time career. He said she seemed like she had a lot on her hands but she was so young and she seemed like she was doing well. "Nah not really... I'm not an entrepreneur, just an orphan." She admitted. "When dad died my older brother got a large chunk of cash and the rest went into an account for Reah, my sister. But I always told him not to give me any money.. So he gave me everything else." She had returned the question onto him and he told her he was just a drop out who lived the high life and then it all tumbled down. "Really...? It can't have tumbled that far.. Life can ALWAYS be re-built." But then he told her he shouldnt be boring her and that she was the more interesting one here. "Am I? Really? Thats a new one!" She said with a laugh. She wasn't generally refereed to as 'interesting'. She spent years at school only to be the smart one, the quiet one and years on the party scene to be known as 'Riley's girlfriend' or 'Karlie's friend'. She herself had never been, as far as she could remember, considered interesting. "But i want to know more about your.... tumble!"

Steven nodded slightly as Evie began to explain how peculiar it was to her that she was able to go and perform in front of a group of strangers but when it came to meeting someone, she'd be shy. "That is kinda weird, usually its the other way around, I guess you're just born to be a performer, I know that when I played sports in front of a large crowd, I'd push myself too far sometimes and screw up or get tired quickly, stuff like that." He muttered, rubbing his chin slightly. The werewolf laughed slightly as Evie mentioned that "Stage Evie" could take over the world. "Whoa now, one step at a time...baby steps, first this bar and a few other gigs and then maybe the world..." He joked, smirking slightly. Steven looked slightly surprised to again hear the girl mention that her responsibilities and other things were holding her back. "Well, its good to see that others know how to prioritize...you're a better one than I." He said, raising his glass slightly to her before downing the beverage.
Steven took a moment to swallow the alcoholic drink and then busted out laughing as Evie mentioned that Hayley Williams was hot, which was of course totally true, but it was the last thing he expected the female to blurt out. "Oh geez, yeah, She really is..." He said, coughing and laughing slightly more before clearing his throat and smiling at Evie. "Aww man, I'm alright...I got that out of the way." He muttered before listening to Evie talk about her opinion on the songs he father made her listen to. "Meh, it couldn't have been that bad, at least you went to places like that, I liked headbanging until I turned like 10, but thats another story." He muttered, chuckling a little. "Everybody has their thing I guess..." Steve added with a small shrug.
The werewolf sat back and was amused with the story about how Evie's little sister didn't care for Bieber, which made the kid a hero in his eyes. "I would definitely be thankful that she didn't fall in love with the kid, seeing how as most of the world has..." He growled, rolling his eyes. As for Hannah Montana however, He didn't much care for her songs, but could understand why the two sisters could know her songs and recite them, but the moment Evie mentioned that she had to put on her wig, he chuckled loudly again. "I'm not sure if I picture you with that type of hairdo either, but then again...I'm not a stylist, so what do I know?" He said with a laugh, shaking his head.
Steven took a moment to regain his composure and looked back to Evie when she started to talk about the places she owned already and about how she inherited them from when her father passed. "Oh, I see...I'm sorry about your father, but he must have seen something in you when he passed the properties to you, thats pretty cool." He muttered. However, he really wasn't prepared for when the question would be reversed on him, which is exactly what Evie did to him. "Huh?? Ohh...Well...I suppose you're right, and lately I've been the one giving lively pep up talks and encouragement when I'm the one that feels down...Heh..." Steven muttered.
The young man ran a hand through his long dark hair and sighed, "My tumble...Alright, Well...I had promise in school, finished with a 3.8 in High School and got into UCLA, which was awesome, because I got to play soccer on Varsity there for a year." He explained. "It was an awesome experience and everything was fine until Sophomore year, which drastically changed my life, I guess I started to hang out with the wrong crowd and did some stupid things, crossed the wrong people and my grades suffered...when Junior year came around, my GPA dropped 2 whole points and I got booted from the school, the combination of that disappointment and other things in my life caused me to hit rock-bottom and well...here I am now." He pointed out. "It's been a rough road and I'm having troubles even finding a half-decent job, and in a huge city like London?!? It's terrible Evie..." He groaned, sighing slightly. "Thats the general theme of things anyway..."Tag: EVERTON ELIZABETH BRETTMusic: Violent and Young - Iglu and Hartley Comments: Back from Camping and ready to post around Outfit: Black leather jacket, black T-Shirt and Blue Denim Jeans
